Class Details:

Morning Suzuki includes master-class style lessons where several students and parents attend at the same time (about 50 minutes total), and each student receives a short individual lesson. In this setting, students and parents learn by observing other lessons. Morning Suzuki will also include group lessons and, of course, snack time. At the end of the week on Friday, we will play a short concert.

Afternoon Chamber Music is for students who are reading music to develop their skills playing in a small ensemble (string quartet, trio etc.). Students will be assigned to an ensemble and receive music to prepare before the workshop begins. Please enroll by June 15 to allow time for planning the groups and music. At the end of the week on Friday, chamber music groups will play a short concert.

Afternoon All-Region / All-State Coaching is for 6th grade through high school students who are planning to take the All-Region Orchestra auditions in the fall, and high school students who are planning to take the All-State audition, also in the fall. A student must be accepted into All-Region before auditioning for All-State. Many students prepare All-State music to be prepared for whatever outcome. If a student is accepted into the All-Region Orchestra, he attends the All-Region Clinic—a one-day event, usually the second Saturday in December, where students rehearse and perform a concert. All-State participants attend the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention in San Antonio in February.

End-of-day Practice, Guided Practice, and Mentoring is for any student participating in afternoon Chamber Music, All-Region, or All-State Coaching. There is no extra charge for this. We encourage students to take advantage of this extra practice time.
